Helio Launch Party

Helio Launch Party
What better way is there to promote your new mobile gadget than by throwing a party and giving them away to celebrities? Helio doesn't think that there is one because that is exactly what they did. Over the weekend, Danny Masterson from That 70's Show, hosted the Helio event in the Hollywood Hills that included 20 and 30-something celebrities like Milla Jovovich, Chloe Sevigny, Sophia Bush, Michelle Trachtenberg, Paris Lastis and Rachael Leigh Cook. In addition to free food and drinks, each of the attendees walked away with a brand new Kickflip.

For a full look at the Helio Kickflip, rather than going by a celebrity's recommendation, check out Engadget Mobile's hands-on look at it. The Kickflip itself costs $250, but service charges from Helio will run you quite a bit more.

Yves St. Laurent Sunglasses

Yves St. Laurent Sunglasses

Yves St. Laurent's latest sunglasses line is online and also for sale at Neiman Marcus. The sunglasses are predictably luxe, perfect for long afternoons on the deck of a yacht or for tucking into your Muse bag. My favorites of their latest collection are the two shown here. For logo lovers there are the rhinestone logo sunglasses with a sparkly version of the YSL logo. Those who prefer something a little more understated might prefer the metal loop sunglasses. The loop sunglasses are $260 and the logo-ed glasses sell for $275. The loop sunglasses are after the jump.

Cervélo's Soloist Carbon: the little bike that could

As you probably know, the Giro d'Italia -- the Tour of Italy -- is in full swing. Today, the riders raced from Busseto to Forli, a jaunt of about 135 miles (227 km). It's mostly flat, and so a sprinter won the stage.

But who will win the overall tour? Very likely Ivan Basso, the great hope of Italian cycling. He's got a great team (CSC), a great director (Bjarne Riis, a.k.a. "The Eagle"), and great teammates (American Bobby Julich, among others).

But most importantly, he's got a dope bike.

This year, Basso and the rest of Team CSC are riding Cervélo's Soloist Carbon. It may just be the dopest bike in the pro peloton.

Cervélo -- an innovative bike design company from deepest, nicest Canada -- has taken its bread-and-butter bike, the aluminum Soloist Team, and made it even better (and more expensive) by using carbon fiber.

It's a compact frame, and so, in comparison to standard bike frames, that means its stiffer, lighter and handles better ... if you care about those things. For the rest of us, it's just cool.

Can bikes bling? This one just might.
