Motorola to buy BenQ research and design facility
Perhaps red-hot Motorola needs some good ole' Taiwanese (or German) engineering for a new uber-RAZR? Motorola has said that it will be buying a research and design facility from BenQ (the artist formerly known as Prince Siemens) for an undisclosed sum. The Denmark-based R&D center will focus on phone software and antenna design, among other things.

So, with this new center, Motorola -- please, please -- get up to par with the dingy and dull user interface found on most of your wireless handsets and find a nice balance between looking good and user-friendliness. I'll say this -- the Sony Ericsson interface, introduced over two years ago, is as darn pretty and entertaining as it is user-friendly. Take a cue, Motorola.
