Google is back with a new service

The new click-to-call service tested by Google allows users to speak with an advertiser without to pick up the phone and dial.

Ads on Google’ search pages have now a phone icon which can be clicked and then the user after picks up the phone receiver, can speak with the advertiser.

Even-tough the company didn’t want to give more details, this technology connects the user and the advertiser over the regular phone lines, unlike VoIP which sends voice transmission over the Internet.

“We won’t share your telephone number with anyone, including the advertiser,” the FAQ stated. “When you’re connected with the advertiser, your number is blocked so the advertiser can’t see it. In addition, we’ll delete the number from our servers after a short period of time.”

Google supports the costs of all the calls even if they are long distance calls. “Google is always considering new ways to provide value to its advertisers and we frequently run tests of potential new features and products,” the company said. “We are currently conducting a limited test of a pay-per-call model, but we don’t have any additional information to share at this time.”
